  1. How many Scotland fans have travelled to Euro 2024?published at 13:54 14 June

    13:54 14 June

    Germany v Scotland (20:00 BST)

The answer is anywhere between 40,000 and 200,000 - depending on what youread.

Last month, the British consulate in Munich, Mark Dittmer-Odell, told the BBC that it was “estimating that 500,000 fanswill travel from the UK” and that “up to 200,000 could be Scotland fans”.

So as the Scots have descended on Munich and other German citiesin their droves, that 200,000 figure has been widely quoted to give a sense ofthe vast numbers of travelling fans.

However, BBC Sport journalists on the ground have been toldby the Munich Police that they expect 40,000 Scotland fans to be in the citytoday - both ticket and non-ticketholders.

The exact figureis hard to verify.

Officially, Scotland have 10,000 tickets for each of their three group matches - including tonight’s opener against hosts Germany - butmany more will travel just to soak up the atmosphere.

But no, he’s an Austria fan! He just wants a ticket to tonight’s game because he says the atmosphere will be "incredible".

    13:43 14 June

    Germany v Scotland (20:00 BST)

    Scotland

Germany go into this tournament ranked 16th in the world.

The host nation has won one tournament - the 2014 World Cup - since they last lifted the European title in England in 1996.

Yet they are unbeaten in four matches in 2024, with their recent improved form under head coach Julian Nagelsmann including victories over the Netherlands and France.

"They're a good team, I think people weretrying to talk them down a little bit," said Scotland manager Steve Clarke.

"I think Julian Nagelsmann found, like I did, it takes a while to find yourbest squad and team formation.

"When the draw was made I expected it to be a tough game and nothing haschanged my mind."

That's brilliant news Blane and we are all rooting for you Theo...I am sure yours will be one Scottish household that will be smiling tonight, no matter what the result against Germany.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke has issued a word of caution, however, about the size of the task facing his side in Munich.

More from former Scotland striker Darren Jackson, who was part of the squad that faced Brazil in the opening game of the 1998 World Cup in France: "It was fantastic to just be a part of the opening game and billions of people watching. Tonight it's the same.

"You're obviously hoping that they can go and get something, but it will be very, very hard because Germany are a good side - their expectations are to win the tournament, not just to beat Scotland."

  20. Effort against Brazil can 'give the boys hope tonight'published at 12:49 14 June

    12:49 14 June

    Germany v Scotland (20:00 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Former Scotland striker Darren Jackson, who played in the 1998 World Cup opener against Brazil in Paris, speaking to Adrian Chiles on 5 Live: "I just received a picture from one of my pals who is over there with the Tartan Army, I gave him my strip I wore in the Brazil game, so he's got that on. The pictures and the atmosphere look incredible."

On the game itself, which Scotland lost 2-1: "It was closer than people probably think. You lose a goal within five minutes to Brazil and you're thinking to yourself 'oh no this could be anything'.

"I thought we dug in and did really well. We kept the ball, it wasn't as though we were defending all of the time, we were disappointed to lose the goal. Tom Boyd, he hates getting reminded of the own goal. But I think our game back then can give the boys hope tonight."

On what the Scotland team can expect in Munich: "I think it'll be a lot more hostile tonight - [for us in 1998] it was against the reigning world champions, not the hosts."
